What Happens To My Jewelry?

Before we can make you an offer on your jewelry items, we cut and file into each piece to precisely determine its gold content. We therefore ask that you please not send us anything of sentimental value. Your jewelry is being purchased strictly for its gold content. After we purchase your jewelry it is melted, refined and turned into gold bars to be sold on the international gold market.

About Your Jewelry

Yellow and white are the most common gold colors. Gold can also be found in rose gold (pinkish color) or green. Most gold jewelry is stamped with a karat level such as: 10k, 14k, 18k, 22k or 24k. If an item is not stamped, don’t worry! We test each individual item and will contact you with the gold content and payout.

PLATINUM

Platinum is a white color similar to that of white gold. Platinum jewelry will be stamped Plat950, 950, PT950, Platinum, PLAT, 5%Irid.-Plat, 10%Irid.-Plat, or Iridium Platinum. If you are not sure whether your jewelry is platinum or white gold, don’t worry. As we said, EVERY item gets tested (assayed) to determine the correct metal content and we will pay you accordingly!

SILVER

Authentic Silver pieces will be stamped Sterling, Sterl., 925, 950, 965, 999, 999 Fine, or Fine Silver. Items such as knives, serving pieces and candelabras are often weighted, meaning the insides are hollow and filled with base metal. We will call or e-mail you regarding the value of these items.

COSTUME JEWELRY

Items such as costume jewelry or fake gold hold no value and will be returned to you upon request. Cost of shipping for these items will be shipped back to you COD.

What Do The Stampings on My Jewelry Mean?

It became standard practice in the 1900’s for manufacturers to stamp their jewelry, indicating the quality of the metal. An item stamped ‘14K’ usually means that it contains very close to that amount of gold. The same rule applies for 18K, 22K, all Platinum markings, etc. If an item is marked ‘sterling’ or ‘sterling silver’ it is usually pure silver.

The following markings usually indicate items with no gold value:

(GF) Gold Filled (GP) Gold Plated (RGP) Rolled Gold Plated (RP) Rolled Plated Gold Counterfeits: 999, 999 Gold, or 999 Solid Gold (HE) Heavy Gold Plated (1/10) or (1/10 GF) 10k Gold Filled (1/20) Gold Filled (EP) Electroplated
